Quecon employee Dawn Coyle participated in an AvSTEM event held at multiple schools in the South Jersey community to celebrate “Read Across America.”

The FAA’s AvSTEM program seeks volunteer Federal Employees and Contractors to serve as AvSTEM Ambassadors, to visit area classrooms and read aviation themed stories to students. AvSTEM Ambassadors share their passion for aviation with students from kindergarten through college. Additionally, AvSTEM engages with educators to incorporate aviation-themed lessons into the classroom.

Dawn assisted local Egg Harbor Twp first grade students in making and flying paper airplanes following her ‘Wonders of Flight’ lesson. Following the lesson, Dawn noted “it was a great experience talking to students about Aviation, the FAA, and working at the Tech Center. It is so important to me to inform students in the area about the Tech Center and how it could be a potential career opportunity for them. So many students live close to the Tech Center and may not know about all the work being done there, and that they could potentially work there one day, too!”
